PAIRS (Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills)
Lori Gordon’s PAIRS program delivers effective relationship skills to couples
in any stage of relationship. Learn how to teach this new, streamlined, one-day adaptation of the
classic PAIRS curriculum and bring the Essential skills of this award-winning program to your
community. You also have the opportunity to become a PAIRS licensed Instructor and add the
esteemed PAIRS Instructor designation to your marriage educator credentials, join the PAIRS
community and list your PAIRS Essentials programs on the PAIRS.com website.
What you will learn:
Practical Skills for Emotional Literacy. Understand the Logic of Love, discover how
Bonding (emotional openness and physical closeness) can nurture your relationship
as an ongoing source of pleasure. Fight Fairly in Behalf of your relationship. Identify
and change Dirty Fighting. Use the Emotional Jug to develop deeper insights and
understanding of yourself and your partner. Develop skills and a language for confiding
and empathy. From the Daily Temperature Reading and the dialogue Guide to Caring
Behaviors and the Love Bank Account, you will learn how to negotiate a relationship
that brings joy to both partners. Uncover hidden expectation, unravel Love Knots and
Double Binds, acknowledge and appreciate differences, recognize communication
styles that promote pain instead of pleasure, increase empathy, self-awareness
and pleasurable connection.

Materials You will Receive:
Participants receive a workbook, wallet cards, DVD of key lectures, research,
popular articles and related materials.
PAIRS Essentials Instructor Designation
If after completing the Institute, you wish to teach PAIRS Essentials using the PAIRS
Instructor designation, advertize the PAIRS Essentials course, and list your courses
on the PAIRS.com website, you must sign the PAIRS Licensing Agreement, pay the $100
annual PAIRS Licensing fee, and attest to and sign the PAIRS Ethics Statement. To do this,
you must attend two Institute lunch-time sessions on Tues July 7 and Wed July 8, where we
will review PAIRS instructor requirements and Ethics Statement. Lunch is not provided.
You'll have a 20 min break purchase lunch and bring it back to the Institute room.
We'll review while you eat.
